The work “Reticule / Ridicule” resembles an oversized version of the small drawstring purse called “reticule” which started to appear in the 18th century after pockets disappeared from women’s fashion due to clothing getting a slimmer fit. The fabrication of the sculpture is inspired by contemporary sports bags combined with more traditional crafts such as chrochet and embroidery. The work is acompannied by a GIF of a performer carrying the bag in the street.
